Phoney Euro 2008 template
Somebody has vandalised the Euro 2004 template at the bottom of the article amongst the navigation boxes. I would fix it if I knew how; but bringing it to the attention of somebody who knows how is the next-best thing. All of the links are mixed up and don't link to the right players. - esp —Preceding undated comment was added at 21:38, 15 September 2008 (UTC).

Career Injury History
Rooney has been prone to foot injuries, made infamous during Englands last major International Tournament where he was a bit-part player due to being selected when not 100% fit.

Rooneys latest injury set back was caused against Reading on the opening day of the 2007-2008 Premiership season. Under a challange from Michael Duberry he suffered a hairline fracture of the left foot and is due to be out for 4-6 weeks. He was also injured for about 4 weeks in November 2007 after injuring himself in training while playing "head tennis". Seymour69er 18:55, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Very factual... NOT
The date is the 16th September and I have just been reading the Disciplinary Action section. It seems some Portuguese idiot has said that the English always look for an excuse or some deluded shit like that. Portugal are a crap team of divers. With our magnificent Owen injured and our brilliant Rooney sent off you still couldn't beat us in normal time or extra time. To the person who wrote that crap about England, first learn proper grammar before you post it on a Wikipedia article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.219.95.3 (talk) 08:08, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

England goals section has repeated entries. Too games against Crotia and Switzerland on the same days?
:No, he scored two goals in each of those matches, so he gets two entries in the table. -- Arwel (talk) 00:47, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Out of date
I think the whole part about where he played with van Nistelrooy should be changed as it's a bit out of date now. Something like "He usually played as a second striker to Louis Saha for his club team however the 07/08 season has seen him playing in a more centre forward role with new signing Carlos Tevez playing as second striker" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andy86 (talk • contribs) 00:29, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

I definately agree- who he used to play with 3 years ago surely isn't something that should be in the main introduction/description of his playing postion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by jamh2000 (talk • contribs) 13:19, 2 March 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.243.253.217 (talk)

Rooney's Sponsorship Deals
Is it worth mentioning that Rooney's vast wealth comes partly from 'human rights friendly' Coca Cola and Nike? Would it be worth adding a section called 'HOW Wayne's Sponsor's are able to pay one person so much money', or maybe one called 'Is Wayne Rooney tarnished by his sponsorship deals?' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.74.167.59 (talk) 03:40, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
:This sounds like a bitter Everton fan to me. What about Beckham? What about all the "celebs" who get paid silly money to advertise products which they probably don't even use? Andy86 (talk) 15:24, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for that basic comment, I don't support a football team but I can tell you do.

I added this because some Wayne Rooney fans like yourself might also be unaware of Nike and Coca Cola's history of alleged child labour, and workers' rights abuses. Some Wayne Rooney fans might be concerned that their hero appears to be supporting companies who have exploited poor countries in the past. Maybe Wayne himself is completely unaware of where his advertising money comes from and if he knew, would worry his image might suffer?

One inference Roonyites could make is that because Wayne advertises Nike; he is in favour of cheap child labour used for stitching Nike football boots. Another inference one could make is: 'Because Wayne drinks Coke, he is in favour of Coca Cola polluting water supplies in India and smashing trade union groups in Colombia' (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Coca-Cola) I doubt Wayne is in favour of any of this but you could see how fans might be confused. It could also be argued that if Wayne Rooney is so wealthy that he could stop advertising for Nike and Coca Cola and it would not financially cripple him - but he chooses to accumulate even more.

In defence of Wayne, I will point out that he will probably give more money to charity and deserving causes than you, me, or anyone reading this article will. It may even be argued that Wayne is taking from the rich (Nike and Coke) and giving to the poor (SOS and UNICEF). Therefore the main article should also include a section about the large amount of charity work he does.

But my original point was: If Wayne is paid millions of pounds to adveritse an immorally produced product; then does this make him look immoral too? After all it is not only his appualingly aggressive temperament on the football pitch, which will shape young people's opinion of him.

:Personally, I dont see why we should include sponsorship information unless something extremely controversal come up. Rooney isn't the only famous person in the planet. Almost celebrities out there has a sponsor. With globalization, almost every major company out there are either doing something immoral, or doing business with someone who are doing something immoral. I think any reader who are honest with themselves know that [insert any celebrity's name] is probably being sponsored by an immoral company.Elsonlam1 (talk) 05:45, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Irish ancenstry
I've heard from several sources that Wayne Rooney has stong Irish roots. Wondering if this is true, and if so noteworthy.Alexsanderson83 (talk) 19:05, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

:It has been said that Wayne's brother has elected to play for Ireland; I don't think that can happen because all Wayne's grandparents were born in England. Brakn (talk) 17:08, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

GCSE's
The referenced article does not actually say that Rooney achieved any GSCE's. just that Colleen scored higher than him in all of them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.109.10.238 (talk) 23:37, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Addition of Rooney Interview
Playing position
I changed playing position from "second striker" in "striker" because he, that also can play as second striker, usally plays centre forward and somethimes is the only pure forward in the starting 11 of Manchester Utd. Swirlan --Swirlan (talk) 12:30, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Rooney is clearly a second striker who is currently being used further forward. Most of the time his role as a striker is only nominal at best. If Rooney was a striker then why is Man Utd constantly linked with big name strikers each and every season? Why would they also hold onto Saha despite him being a complete crock? I've reverted the edit or at least I would have done so had I been able to log in. Someone else will need to revert it until I can figure out what the problem is... --83.67.93.112 (talk) 19:38, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

It should be changed to simply 'striker'. he played a lone striker role against arsenal in the 4-0 FA cup victory, and was brilliant, so saying his role is nominal is untrue. his best position is in fact as a second striker, but he is in fact a striker. the fact that man united are linked with big name strikers every year is that journalists who think they know more than sir alex ferguson seem to believe united need one, when in fact they can play very well without one. ==Assist table==

Someone should get to work on getting an Assist table up for Rooney, considering that he collects a fair few. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.9.151.226 (talk) 18:44, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

: Would it be entirely useful though? In general, the most used, and looked-at stats, are appearances and goals scored. Bringing assists into it would lead to debate about what is considered an assist and what isn't. Appearances and goals are far more clear cut, I think assists would just complicate matters. One of the country's council estates??
