Article re-arranged

[edit]

Ok, I worked on this article and did masive changes, I checked on my .hack//ZERO copy to make sure all the info was correct, and I think now it looks pretty good. Kazu-kun 01:02, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Canon

[edit]

Is it known that //ZERO is officially considered included within the .hack series? Or is it more like "published fanfiction"? 69.29.161.59 16:18, 31, January 2007

It is canon (officially included within the .hack franchise): .hack//ZERO novel was written by Yokote Michiko, who was a screenplay writer for .hack//SIGN. The envents in ZERO are the base for the .hack//GU game series, specially what happened to Sora (you may find info about this in the Terminal Disc that came with .hack//GU rebirth). .hack//analysis also have a reference to Junka Nimura (main character of ZERO). There's also a reference to ZERO in Liminality; Mai Minase catches a glimpse of Sora/Skeith while exploring the game with Tokuoka. Sora transforms fully into Skeith to attack them. This "fusion" between Sora and Skeith is the central theme of ZERO, and also the base for the GU games (like I said before). Also the first track from the .hack//G.U. The World Vol. 6 CD is called "Curl's Theme ~.hack//ZERO Phantom Pain~".
But you now, you're not the first one who ask me this. I would like to know why people think .hack//ZERO may not be canon. Is it because of the relationship between An and Mariko? or is it something else? Kazu-kun 19:17, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I asked more because I wasn't sure of the source of the novel. I wasn't aware of the fact that the author of ZERO was also a writer for SIGN. Stepping outside of .hack, you can find several unofficial novels written in various fandoms which the creators of said fandoms gave no permission or authority to the writers. The fact that ZERO's writer worked for the show, along with your citations of references in continuity gives me greater assurance that it is canon.
As an addendum, I was surprised at the relations between An and Mariko. However, this wasn't a basis for my question of the novel's authority. 69.29.161.59 12:36 7 February, 2007
Don't get me wrong. I was just asking because, like I said, many people ask about ZERO's status in the .hack franchise, and I always wondered where they're coming from. Anyway, I understand your point. Kazu-kun 23:57, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
