Finishing, cleaning up this article
[edit]I plan on finishing this article by Christmas, but I also want to clean up some of my syntax and word choice because a lot of the phrases sound ... not unbiased, to say the least. I tried to be impartial, but it's sometimes difficult when covering sports when one team wollops the other. Thanks for helping me edit it, as well. Fdssdf (talk) 18:19, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
General cleanup of series summaries
[edit]I've begun removing large chunks of poorly written (by me), unsourced information that, in most cases, is overly detailed, especially for the first- and second-round series. My attempt here is to locate and retain basic information. Fdssdf (talk) 01:20, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for clearing out a lot of this crap, I've been meaning to get to this for a few years. Deadman137 (talk) 01:27, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hey, me too! — but more like eight years for me. I've tried to isolate GWGs and goals in general because I imagine that information necessary for any future FAC. I envisioned putting them into each game row as expandable information. Also, I caught myself changing defenceman to defenseman. I need to go through the article and see what's consistent. Recap link problems
[edit]My recap reference links do not redirect properly within the Wiki markup: The link insists on putting a "www.http.com//" before the actual link, and that produces a 404. Copying the link into a browser works fine for me (here it is). I'm out of ideas for troubleshooting it. Fdssdf (talk) 06:11, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- For that you just use www and then whatever the address is. I've also gone through and fixed some very minor formatting issues to keep consistency with the current articles. Deadman137 (talk) 14:58, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Deadman137: Why is the standard for these articles to pipe the links for players with diacritical marks in their names? Oh, and thank you for the information about the linking problem! Fdssdf (talk) 17:17, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- The diacritical marks current standard was a compromise reached a few years back. I was not a part of that conversation so I'm not the best person to ask, but I'll explain it as best as I can. The basic understanding is that we don't use the marks in North American based articles such as the draft and playoff articles, but in European and player articles we do use the marks. Not exactly the simplest of systems but there are no longer any lengthy debates on the issue. Deadman137 (talk) 17:31, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation. Fdssdf (talk) 22:18, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- Your welcome. My apologies I should have mentioned that it's okay to link to a player's page once per game in a series and that power-play, shorthanded, empty net and penalty shot goals have a slightly different formatting layout. Basically everything that you need to know about formatting these templates is in the New Jersey/Carolina series. Deadman137 (talk) 07:18, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, indeed. Thanks again! Fdssdf (talk) 21:15, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
