I personally feel as though this page is not needed, if you look back at how past tournaments have been covered you will see that the results and fixtures have just been included on the main Champions League 06/07 page and that only the final match has been given its own specific page. --shanda 18:29, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We have it for domestic leagues. We should therefore have it for ucl

We have it for domestic leagues because the results would just be too cramped on one page with up to 380 games to cover, but since their is not even half that amount in the UCL it can be covered adequately. The only way I think this would be a good idea was if you was to cover every group individualy like was done for this years World cup detailing each starting line-up for the matches, all game statistic etc. which will be pretty much impossible. --shanda 18:54, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some were complaining about that on the main ucl page. Kingjeff 21:10, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The participation on this page seems to be very popular. And it looks better then just putting scores as of other years. Kingjeff 22:21, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why not use football boxes like those used for the World Cup 2006? See 2006 World Cup#Round of 16 What do you think?--Serte 16:06, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It could work like that. Kingjeff 16:06, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Country Flags

[edit]

I think the flags are unnecissary. They're already in the group stage standings in the main champions league page. Kingjeff 02:30, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Format

[edit]

Does anyone else agree that the format of the page would be better looking like the world cup pages, I have drawn up an example for Group A, what are people's opinion? Take a look here>> User:Curswine/Sandbox. --shanda 21:22, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's a good idea. But the article name would have to be changed to reflect what is added. Kingjeff 21:41, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure I exactly know what you mean, the article would still be doing the same job, displaying the results of the champions league group stage, just it would be giving a bit mroe detail than before, the only drawback I can see to this method is that the article would be longer than it already is, but a table of contents at the top can deal with that problem quite effectively. --shanda 21:51, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The new article would have to be UEFA Champions League 2006-07 - Group Stage standings and results. Kingjeff 21:59, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The table can obviously be done away with, I just put it their because I thought it acted as a good divider between the different groups, letting you know when one ended and the next began. If it was left the way then I don't see why the 'standings' part needs to be included in the title because it is just detailing the effects of the results. --shanda 22:56, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

no no. Lets move the tables from the main champions league page to this page. Kingjeff 23:00, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
