Format
[edit]The games played last summer are being characterized as the "first round" of this event. Given the year gap between them, aren't they more like a series of qualifying tournaments, no different than the qualifying tournaments that were held around the world for the Olympic Women's Basketball tournament? Is there something about the competition format being used here that gives last summer's games a connection to this summer's games, or is it basically just marketing?
