S.I. Unit Prefixes

[edit]

Only geeks and those that haven't studied Physics or Chemistry properly use uppercase K for x1000. See http://physics.nist.gov/cuu/Units/prefixes.html

School

[edit]

Regarding the (implicit) dispute between those who wanted '2K' to refer to a class for gifted students, and those who wanted it redirected to 'Digital Cinema'.

The redirect to 'Digital Cinema' is not entirely satisfactory, because the term isn't mentioned in the first paragraph (as is recommended with redirected pages).

However, "school class 2K" is not (in my opinion) notable. I will oppose any attempt to include it here again (unless someone can justify the choice). If the "school class" page had not been converted into a redirect, I would have included it in Articles for deletion.

And what about 2K, the 1997 incarnation of The KLF? As the new name for one of the biggest selling bands of the early 90s I would think they have the top claim for a redirect. Dab page?? --kingboyk 12:12, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've delved into the history and the high school thing can be forgotten. It wouldn't stand a chance on AFD.
Google doesn't really give any clear answer, although it throws up an Operating System called 2K in the first page of results.
Also of interest is that only one article from the main namespace links here!!!
4K is a dab page with 2 links (one red!) and some info on the numerical value. I'll replicate that. --kingboyk 12:22, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
