Assignment
[edit]This unit couldnt be assigned to IV Bomber Command till 1945, as this command has been disbanded on March 1944 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IV_Bomber_Command — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.158.148.22 (talk) 13:49, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
- Removed. Apparently an editor assumed that if it was on the west coast it was in Fourth Air Force. --Lineagegeek (talk) 15:52, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
New Assignment
[edit]This may require extensive editing, but the group was reactivated at Dyess AFB, Texas on 17 October 2015 (Extract):
The Air Force Reserve activated the 489th Bomb Group and associated elements during an Oct. 17 ceremony at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. The bomb group reactivation includes the 345th Bomb Squadron, the 489th Maintenance Squadron and the 489th Aerospace Medical Flight.
The 489th BG is a geographically separated unit under the 307th Bomb Wing, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. It will operate in a classic association with the 7th Bomb Wing at Dyess flying the B-1B Lancer.
