Not disambiguation

[edit]

As it currently stands, this article disambiguates between two non-existent articles. Many if not all of the links to 7" are for one or the other record-related definitions, but I'm not sure that this should not be an article about 7" records in general, with two subheadings for the EP and single versions (with appropriate links). The single article does not mention '7"' at all, but the "Extended play" article does have some relevant content.

Another option is to find more 7" links and turn this into a proper disambiguation page, with all the editing of referring articles that that implies. Dpv 21:13, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see nothing wrong with this article. The fact that the topics it refers to are embedded in other articles rather than existing as articles themselves is no barrier to the helpfulness of this page. Many other such disambiguation links exist. If someone who has never seen the word '7"' comes to Wikipedia to find out more information, this disambiguation page will tell them what the term can mean and point them to the articles with more information. —Psychonaut 22:18, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Maybe I was just looking for an excuse not to tackle all the pages that point to this page. If it remains a disambiguation page, then nearly all of them need to be pointed to something more specific. I would guess that most people would be satisfied with a redirect to Gramophone record#Common formats, from which they have easy access to both Extended play and Single as well as visibility to other less-common seven-inch formats. That's fine with me, provided the same is also done for 10" and 12" (plus any others I may not be familiar with). —Psychonaut 00:49, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sold! Thanks for the discussion. 7, 10, 12 done. Looking for others. Dpv 01:03, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
