ANSI "character set"?
[edit]In practice when someone refers to “ANSI” text they’re referring to ASCII text containing DEC vt100 terminal control escape sequences, or CP1252 containing Microsoft’s variant of ANSI X3.64 terminal control escape sequences, or maybe ISO 8859.1 containing XTerm-compatible X3.64 escape sequences... depending on how old they are. Predominantly the second case. I have _never_ heard it used to refer to a character set outside of the context of “text containing some variant of X3.64 escape sequences”.
