Wrong place[edit]

AT&T Wireless is a defunct wireless company that was merged into Cingular some time ago. Cingular itself is reportedly rebranding itself to AT&T or Wireless from AT&T, not AT&T Wireless. I appreciate everyone's excited by the name change, but given Cingular hasn't even changed its name yet (as evident from www.cingular.com which at the current time has no rebranding whatsoever), could we please hold off with the moves, and also DEFINITELY not rename it to AT&T Wireless if we do (maybe AT&T (Wireless), or Wireless by AT&T, but not AT&T Wireless.)

The idea is to redirect to the article of the new name, and then say that AT&T Wireless is the new name. As of now, it seems they will go with the name AT&T Wireless for official purposes, however brand it as AT&T. We can easily change this should they use another name. aido2002 04:46, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have a cite for AT&T Wireless being the new name? Not even the article itself claims that, with an (extremely dubious) claim that customers will refer to it as AT&T Wireless (I think it's more probable they'll refer to it as AT&T, just as Verizon Wireless customers rarely refer to their operator as anything but "Verizon")
In any case:
It's Cingular today.
It's "AT&T" or "Wireless by AT&T" in the near future, with some ads refering to the latter.
There is nothing, whatsoever, saying it'll ever be AT&T Wireless. And it's not AT&T Wireless today.
We need to rename the article. Squiggleslash 12:29, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
