Examples?

Are there any real examples of this? If this is a logical fallacy then examples of it should be available in the wild. Somebody raised Nancy Grace; she said that it didn't matter that she had prejudicially vilified an innocent man based on no evidence, because the accused had previous form. Her argument for not apologizing was based on the man's unlikeable history. If that isn't an appeal to spite, then what is?
