Untitled[edit]

Sounds like a sales pitch, consider the sentence beginning "Think of your local Apple Specialist as" in the second paragraph.

I agree. The article seems to imply that "Apple Specialist" is a specialist status awarded by Apple. That does not appear to be the case. It seems that "Apple Specialist" is unofficial and the only thing noteworthy about it is that it is an award given to a company by another company (I can't figure out which), after they pass a set of tests. Should this article exist? Mikesc86 02:11, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Apple Specialist designation is an Apple designation, not an industry one (I can't find a link on Apple's website, because they've de-emphasized the term now that Apple has their own retail distribution network). While I must agree the article doesn't give "both sides" of whatever dispute isn't obvious to others, the article is factually accurate, and does tell the wiki reader something valuable: some Apple retailers are more knowledgeable/experienced/comprehensive in relation to Apple products, and some just sell iPods and accessories. The incredibly poor website (which Apple would not allow without express permission because of systematic defense of trademark issues) doesn't do the program justice, but does correctly link to current specialists. While I do understand the critique, and I can't yet provide the needed citation to remove the POV tag, this article does reflect market truth, and I see no necessary changes other than the references. Needs update[edit]

Context: in October 2022, I moved this page from Apple Specialist to Apple Authorized Service Provider.

My justification is:

Apple's third-party repair certification program was renamed from Apple Specialist to Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) many years ago. It's now commonly known by that name; I believe the new name still meets the WP:GNG. "Apple Specialist" is currently a job title within Apple Stores.

The body obviously no longer matches the title well, but the article still has good content that should be kept. DFlhb (talk) 19:53, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
