There IS an A-to-D converter in the Atari 8-bit computers

Dear all, In the cassette section, the current version of the article reads "... as there was no A-to-D converter in the computer". I'm afraid that's not accurate. Paddles plugged into the joystick ports have a variable resistance, and this analog signal is converted by the computer into a numeric 0-228 (or was it 1-228?) value. So there IS an A-to-D converter in the Atari 8-bit computers. Kind regards, Ldelsarte (talk) 15:57, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
