[edit]This article is confused on several counts:-
1. It gets confused between the Battle of Tannenberg, the subject of the novel, which involved the Russian 2nd Army, and the Battles of the Masurian Lakes, which I understood were different battles involving the Russian 1st Army, I have deleted this.
2. It says it was completed in 1970, during Solzhenitsyn's exile, but I understood he was only exiled in 1974.
3. The version I read circa 1975 said that one chapter had been deleted at the request of the author, I think this was the starting point for Lenin in Zurich. But I also understand this developed into a completely separate work, not part of the 1984 version. PatGallacher (talk) 19:35, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
Reception?
[edit]Aside from being controversial as noted in the intro, is it any good as a novel? Are there notable critics whose opinions can be included in the article? MyIP19216811 (talk) 01:39, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
