Merge article?[edit]

In light of two factors, it might be best to consider merging this article with the Handhabend article.

The factors are:

  • There's not much in this article, mostly because the topic is old and can be summed up in a few sentences.
  • The term backberend seems to have been used almost exclusively as a part of "handhabend and backberend", not as a word on its own.

Were these articles to be merged, I'd suggest calling the new article "Handhabend and backberend" and redirecting both of the existing articles there. --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 16:14, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cognates[edit]

Is this Dutch? Actual old English?

I think it would be helpful to point out the words more-or-less correspond to "back-bearing" and "hand-having".

The "hont..." one I can't help u with. Is there an etymologist in the house? 66.30.47.138 (talk) 00:33, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
