Moved from backgammon

[edit]

This article was split off from backgammon and then cleaned up a bit. ptkfgs 19:08, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tavli

[edit]

There is a mistake in the articule: tavli is not a variant of backgammon, but it is the original game from which it derived. I mean, that should be stated in the beginning, not hidden somwehere in the list of variants (as tavla). And it is originated in Armenia, not Turkey (it may be played there, dunno, but its origin is Armenian and that is not mentioned anywhere in the articule). Gonna check with some armenian friends if they can give me some more exact data. --Yago Stecher 11:06, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're right. I think the "Backgammon variant" article had a serious problem representing a worldwide view. I've merged the entire contents of Backgammon variant into Tables (board game), which broadly covers all games that are played on a backgammon-style board. I think this makes a whole lot more sense. If you can help find some better sources than those in the "History" section in Backgammon, I think that would help a great deal in fleshing out the Tables (board game) article. As the sections on individual games grow, it will be easy to split them out into separate articles. ptkfgs 13:31, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
