Tag issue[edit]

There's a tag on this article that says: "This article needs attention from an expert in archaea. The specific problem is: historical bacteria->archaea classification change." I think the real issue is that "bacterial rhodopsin" was once a synonym for "microbial rhodopsin" and is sometimes still used in that sense. Microbial rhodopsins were originally found in Archaea. They have since been found in Bacteria and Eukaryota, including algae and fungi. The bacterial variety are now called bacterial rhodopsins. This article should decide which one it should be about. Delete article pending replacement[edit]

In the very near future I am going to ask that this article be deleted. I first need to put up a new article Microbial rhodopsin (currently in one of my sandboxes, User:Zyxwv99/sandbox7). Then I will re-link those incoming links to this article that refer to the topic of the new article. After that, I would like to create a disambiguation page with the same name as this one, except in the singular instead of the plural (as this should not have been in the plural). In principle, the content of this article should be migrated over to Bacteriorhodopsin only it looks like the content is already duplicated there. Zyxwv99 (talk) 21:33, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
