Description isn't good

[edit]

This article sound like it's trying to describe the balo, a xylophone used by the Mandinka. However, it's not their primary instrument; the kora would probably take that distinction (though the balo and ngoni are also used). The djembe is also commonly used. As it stands now, Balafon is being used as a catch-all article for all West instruments in the balo family. This could probably redirect there. Badagnani (talk) 04:13, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"national instrument" does not mean "primary instrument", but anyway I've removed the claim from this article. I'm neutral on redirecting to balafon (well, I'm opposed, but don't really care). Tuf-Kat (talk) 04:17, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I should correct myself: among the Mandinka of Gambia, Senegal, and Mali the kora is most popular, but the balo is considerably more popular among the Mandinka in Guinea. Badagnani (talk) 04:22, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
