specific epithet[edit]

My understanding is that the species epithet ammodytoides is a reference to this snake's similarity in appearance to Vipera ammodytes, the European Nose-horned Viper. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mia229 (talkcontribs) 07:28, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
