Early (1945-1949) radio shows heard in Dallas, TX would advertise Buster Brown shoes. Aimed at the [child] audience, the commercial would imbed a message to kids to be sure to "look for Buster Brown and his dog, Tige, in their shoes. The limerick went something like, "Hi! I'm Buster Brown and I live in a shoe. This is my dog, Tige, and he lives there, too!" What child would not fall for that line and implore mom or dad to supply him with only Buster Brown shoes. Later with the advent of television, it was even more compelling when Buster Brown himself along with Tige showed up on the television. I was allowed to wear my Buster Brown's at play as well as school and church. The catch: I had to keep them clean and polished before wearing them.Edb4pax (talk) 15:50, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
