Missing information

[edit]
  • Merger of IBM CAD into Altium
  • Spin off of PCAD from Altium
  • When did Altium become CSC/MicroCADAM?
  • When does Micro CADAM become Helix Design System?
  • Company name progression was CADM, MICRO CADAM, Altium, Microcadm, then CSC/Microcadm. But when did those changes occur? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.166.188.25 (talk) 18:58, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Style

[edit]

The "is/was" in the lead-off sentence seems rather unencyclopedic. I think one or the other should be chosen, whichever is closer to the current situation, which I believe is CADAM dead but MicroCADAM still alive. I think "was" would be best, with an explanation elsewhere in the article that the derivative MicroCADAM is till being sold. --Westwind273 (talk) 21:38, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Japan

[edit]

MicroCADAM always had a special popularity in Japan. It continues to be developed and sold today by IBM Japan. This article seems to indicate that MicroCADAM has been discontinued everywhere, but it lives on in Japan. See the following web pages: http://www-06.ibm.com/industries/jp/manufacturing/prod/mc/mchelix_en.html http://www-06.ibm.com/industries/jp/manufacturing/prod/mc/ --Westwind273 (talk) 23:10, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I was working in the same building as the CADAM programmers at the time that it was sold to IBM. One of the support people said that the main reason IBM agreed to buy it is the Japanese. Sam Tomato (talk) 00:54, 27 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It is still being sold in Japan as MICRO CADAM Helix. https://www.fujielectric.co.jp/fsl/solution/helix/index.html Westwind273 (talk) 17:54, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Lockheed's successor

[edit]

At the time Lockheed sold CADAM they intended to develop a better system. Either it was called Edge or I forget what it was called. Sam Tomato (talk) 01:03, 27 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
