Merge Proposal
[edit]Instead of 6 linked stub articles, any reason to not do away with the disambiguation and merge all 6 into a single, well-written article? -TinGrin 04:22, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
Split (or un-merge)
[edit]Around 2 years ago, all of the Carolinas Medical Center articles were merged here. It doesn't seem like there was much discussion. The current article is about 7 different hospitals all with the prefix "Carolinas Medical Center." Each hospital is distinct with its own history and physical location. The only commonality is that they are part of the same healthcare system - Carolinas Healthcare System. There is no actual entity called "Carolinas Medical Centers," the current name of this article. The separate articles probably should not have been merged together in the first place, as they did not meet the criteria for merger: not duplicate subjects and no overlap between articles. Although the separate articles were short, there is potential for expansion, and each is a discrete topic. Having all of them listed here creates an artificial "clunky" article about a topic that does not exist in reality: hospital names starting with "Carolinas Medical Center." I propose that this article be split back to the previous articles: Carolinas Medical Center-Main, Carolinas Medical Center-University, Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast, Carolinas Medical Center-Union, Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy, Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville. Additionally, Carolinas Medical Center-Main should be moved back to Carolinas Medical Center, as it is the name of the hospital, with a hat note to a disambiguation page (which this page would revert back to and be renamed to Carolinas Medical Center (disambiguation). --Scott Alter (talk) 01:00, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
- With over a month and no comments, I went ahead and performed the split. --Scott Alter (talk) 17:43, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
