The Godfather in the USSR
[edit]I proposed this new article for Did you know, but the person who assessed it requested a source for the claim that The Godfather was not distributed in the USSR. I believe that it is correct: it is common knowledge that American movies were almost banned in the USSR, especially if they were violent and i remember that in the Glasnost years (late 80's) i heard on the Soviet TV that this movie was indeed never shown in the USSR. Unfortunately, this is only a memory and i can't find a written reliable source that would prove it and the request for such a source is perfectly legitimate.
The IMDB doesn't say that this film was distributed in the USSR, but it doesn't mean that it wasn't.
Do you happen to know where can i find a reliable source about distribution of American movies in the USSR, or at least about this particular movie?
Many thanks in advance. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 14:35, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
