Merge with TSCM

This article uses significant text from TSCM but the subject is much bigger than electronic countermeasures. Watch some TV or James Bond films and you can see.

Please try to improve this aticle rather than merge other articles in.

If actions like merge are contimplated, the appropriate templates must be used and positngs in talk pages or discussion forums. Further untemplated merges will be refered to vandalism. Mikebar (talk) 08:17, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Mikebar, merge templates are in no way required by Wikipedia policy. On the contrary, WP:MERGE states, "Merging is a normal editing action, something any editor can do, and as such does not need to be proposed and processed. If you think merging something improves the encyclopedia, you can be bold and perform the merge." Second, please assume good faith. Accusing an admin of vandalism is an extremely poor way to go about starting a discussion. And third, fiction like television shows and James Bond is not a reliable source of information about countersurveillance. —Lowellian (reply) 23:22, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
That said, I don't necessarily object to TSCM being a separate article. However, if it is a separate article, TSCM should only be covering countersurveillance information specifically related to the United States, since TSCM is simply an American military term for countersurveillance measures. Countersurveillance is a much broader subject than just TCSM, and it is also much more general, applying to all countries. —Lowellian (reply) 23:25, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. Sorry for bad faith. I will add some terminology to TSCM on Americanism with possible other country analog(ue)s. I only note "James Bond" as an easily pictured view of countersurveillance and by no means propose it as a reliable source. I just have no particular reliable sources to draw on at this time. This site is awful

The list of human countersurveillance methods is astonishingly amateurish and does not reflect real-world practices. Please find an expert who is able to discuss declassified countersurveillance methods the way it is practiced in real life. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.150.177.62 (talk) 18:18, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Why just declassified? Classified by what country? ;-) 98.230.236.25 (talk) 04:18, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

Counterveillance / Snoopwall SPAM

I removed this line : Among Privacy-enhancing technologies, counterveillance[1] specifically addresses concerns of consumers, businesses and governments to protect their privacy on their computing devices (including smartphones, laptops, tablets and desktops).

This is not a word, but appears to be primarily a buzzphrase bastardized version of 'counter surveillance' pushed by the beneficiary of the backlink. A "Privacy" company, SnoopWall, led by a founding member of the american dept of homeland security (makes me feel all rosy about my privacy). That sentence appears to have bene inserted purely to get an SEO backlink. I haven't the time to look at the wayback machine, but i wonder how far apart that edit, and the blog post it linked it in a reference were. Besides, anyone would need their head examined to trust their privacy and security to anyone associated so closely with US government malfeasance. LOL! Circular references from the spammers at Snoopwall. So this article referenced them for the meaning of 'What is Counterveillance', yet a separate page on their site attributes it to wikipedia... According to Wikipedia “Counterveillance” is a term to describe new "software countermeasures” (http://www.snoopwall_com/files/2013/12/SnoopWall-10-Tips-2-Keep-Out-Cyber-Snoops.pdf). 98.230.236.25 (talk) 04:12, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

So for a bit of OR for the talkpage, i went to see who put the link in, well it was a user called Patrickrafter. who, unsurprisingly is listed on this outfits press releases. (http://www.snoopwall_com/snoopwall-president-gary-miliefsky-to-deliver-keynote-of-2014-boston-security-conference/) MEDIA CONTACT: Patrick Rafter for SnoopWall. So he invents a word. Puts it in wikipedia. Links it to himself, and then sends press releases out on its meaning, as described by wikipedia. Snoopwall - Busted Spammers. 98.230.236.25 (talk) 04:24, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
Looks like he also did it for a previous employer, Cortera - spam backlink long since removed. If it was an active user I'd say call in the admins, but he's either gone, or has a new puppet. 98.230.236.25 (talk) 04:34, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

Filleted out a spam citation. There was a youtube link to a guy who sells courses spondored by snoopwall - apparently that was the authoritive link about the Snowden leaks. seriously.... 76.23.121.89 (talk) 23:54, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
