History of Crakemarsh[edit]

Like all good hamlets in the UK, a local retiree has spent his days compiling a detailed history of the area. In this case it is Uttoxeter baker John Walker and his 2013 self published epic "The Ancient Manor of Crakemarsh: A history by John Walker".[1]

There is an unsurprising amount of history here, with the nearby Roman settlement of Rocester, links to the heart of the Mercia kingdom, and the Cavendish dynasty living in the surroundings.

I probably won't dig any further, but it would be great if someone did. Many of the old houses and churches in the area were designed and built by architects connected to cathedrals and churches of note around the country.

There was a church in Crakemarsh that has been wiped out of existence, and setting a wiki record of it would be good. PutTheKettleOn (talk) 10:01, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
