Notable alumni

I removed two graduates of Cranbrook School (already listed there) from the list of notable alumni here, and in the edit summary stated the duplication as the reason; but having looked more closely at this page I see that the 'notable alumni' listed here are specifically from the Art Academy, in which case the two I removed (Scott McNealy and Mitt Romney) were here in error, not simply redundantly. JohnInDC (talk) 18:24, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

The list of Art Academy 'notable alumni' had become a hodgepodge of Wikilinked, redlinked and unlinked names, not particularly helpful, and largely unsourced to boot. I set out to clean it up a bit. It turns out that several of the unlinked names have Wikipedia articles, so I wikilinked them. Those that did not, I removed on the grounds that their presence on this list is entirely unsourced - there's no quick way of knowing who they are, what might make them notable, or indeed whether they were ever affiliated with the school. I also removed the redlinked names except for Maija Grotell, who based on my thumbnail assessment, might warrant an article when someone gets around to writing it. Should any editor conclude that I've removed someone reasonably notable who's simply somehow failed to attract Wikipedia attention, please restore them along with a redlink that may induce someone to write an actual article on them. (In the meantime, perhaps a parenthetical following their name, explaining who they are, might be a good idea.) JohnInDC (talk) 18:59, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Christ Church Cranbrook

I was surprised to learn that, because of church canon, Christ Church Cranbrook never became part of the Cranbrook Educational Community established in 1973. See this article by the Cranbrook archivist, published at the Cranbrook website (at pp 4 and 6): [1]. I've corrected this in the text, albeit a bit clumsily, and I suppose that the photograph of the (quite lovely) church should come out of the article as well. Right now Christ Church Cranbrook redirects to this page, which for the time being is better than nothing, but in the long run it's not suitable to have a redirect to a page that simply tells you what the church *isn't*. Does anyone feel up to a standalone article? JohnInDC (talk) 20:01, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

I see that the identical picture is also shown at Cranbrook Schools, which is at least a less inappropriate place for it, so I removed it from here. JohnInDC (talk) 20:12, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
I added a paragraph to Cranbrook Schools and changed the redirect to there. The church may not warrant a standalone article - at least, *I* couldn't write one. This is the best solution in the meantime. JohnInDC (talk) 21:08, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Museum cats moved to redirects with possibilities

The various museum articles should be broken out, so for now, I left the museum cats in the redirects dm (talk) 05:06, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Leonard Bernstein

The source cited (footnote 11) for the claim that Leonard Bernstein resided in the Booth house actually says, "Legendary composer Leonard Bernstein wrote portions of his great musical, "West Side Story" while visiting Cranbrook. The piano he used at the time is now located at Cranbrook House." I deleted the claim that Bernstein lived in the house. Vikingurinn (talk) 21:32, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
