Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedy deleted as a foreign language article that exists on another Wikimedia project, because... (your reason here) --Moriscoricote (talk) 20:04, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
Could you please have a look on the word "Chronicler" ? There they state that the word Cronista should be used. That was the reason to prepare the following text hereafter. If not possible, what more I can do? Regards20:04, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Moriscoricote (talk)
A Cronista is one who writes chronicles.
Spain
[edit]In Spain, a chronicler or Cronista is the writer who collects historical or current facts and writes them. Until the time of the illustrations, he was the equivalent of a historian and occupied this as an official function to perform this activity properly. The appointment of the official chronicler often happens in individuals who have distinguished themselves by their efforts to study, investigate and disseminate population-related issues. The assignment will be made by mutual agreement of the City Council in plenary meeting (ordinary or extraordinary). The award is traditionally based on the essential principles of an honorary, unpaid and lifetime assignment. The appointment also involves the nomination as honorary councilor.
Merger proposal
[edit]I propose to merge Cronista into Chronicle or to create a seperate page for Chronicler. The Spanish language page for cronista ultimately doesn't describe a role much different from that of any other Middle Age chronicler, but lots of valuable information on the societal role of chroniclers and the development of the occupation out of early Christian scholars and the clergy of the Middle Ages is mostly missing. - Either proposal sounds fine, but on balance I think that merging Cronista to Chronicle seems most reasonable, as the two topics are closely intertwined and Chronicler already redirects to Chronicle. Note that the former was a separate page from 2007 to 2014, at which point it was redirected to Chronicle by 216.8.172.35, seemingly without consensus (see Talk:Chronicler), with this edit. Wikidata linking will also have to be looked at. Klbrain (talk) 08:13, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
- Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 08:01, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
