Within this article comes the idea that Cultural Sustainability is possibly the fourth pillar of sustainability with respect to the Three Pillars of Sustainability. The link between both Sustainable Development & Cultural Sustainability are discussed as well as several policy decisions that have been made as a result of the importance of Cultural Sustainability. Also in this article the authors discuss the idea of Cultural Capital which is having items that are significant to a culture accessible for all to use and gain off of.

This journal piece deals with tourism as it relates to the sustainable practices of tourist as well as the effect is has on cultural sustainability. The in-depth case study of this report offers statistical information regarding the trends of tourists, and the effect that the industry has on indigenous culture. This study does present some limitations, however, as it states that certain information could not be obtained at this stage in the study.

This article also proposes Cultural Sustainability as its own entity separate from that of Social Sustainability and nominates Cultural Sustainability as its own pillar of sustainability. This paper is primarily focused on cultural sustainability as it relates to museums, but does touch on topics related to the more social aspects of culture, such as government implementations and policies relating to culture and protecting it.

This article focuses on the importance of culture in any society and the specific roles it plays in the evolution of human beings and the interactions we have with one another and with the world around us. It also discusses the possible gaps in history with respects to culture, and the path in which western society took to becoming the nation’s they are today.

This article has to do with studying the relevance of the topic of Cultural Sustainability, and the importance of it being implemented into the educational system. This article also reinforces the notion that Cultural Sustainability is deserving of its own fourth independant pillar amongst the other three pillars.
