My wife's father served on board HMS Cutty Sark during World War 2, so some years ago I did a lot of research into the history of the ship. The article I have just added is simply a summary of that history.
In my research I contacted a large number of individuals who had known the ship, and consulted many books, archives, museums and other sources.
The SY Cutty Sark meets the Wikipedia "encyclopaedia" test simply on account of her career: made from destroyer parts, she was build as a gentleman's private yacht; when war came she was requisitioned and saw honourable service; at the end of the war she took on, briefly, a humanitarian role as a merchant marine training ship for boys who had suffered during the war.
All contributions to increase knowledge of the SY Cutty Sark's story would be welcomed. Robin I Morgan (talk) 19:46, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
