[edit]

I moved the following list of news articles to this page from the main page because such a news section is unencyclopedic and promotional. These references may have use as sources for the article but simply listing news articles that mention the subject is inappropriate. Jojalozzo 03:19, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - I work for Dimensional Insight, and I would like to help update this page with more current information, while still working within Wikipedia's parameters of not being overly promotional and avoiding a conflict of interest.

Would an editor be willing to review the sentence below and potentially add it to the lede paragraph or "History" subhead in the article? Dimensional Insight owns three patents (5,442,784; 5,404,513; 5,404,512) that deal with building a database system for organizing large amounts of data. BIkhs, I have decided not to add this information. It certainly doesn't belong in the lede. Notable patents may deserve discussion in the main body of the article, I do not see evidence that these patents should be listed. The reference provided is a WP:PRIMARY reference. These can be used, with limitations. For example, if there was extensive discussion of a patent, and some dispute about whether the patent existed, or who owned it, the link to the patent office entry might be useful supplementary information. There are literally millions of patents, and we would generally include a patent if it is notable enough to garner meaningful discussion in WP:Reliable sources. If those exist, please provide them, and we can revisit the request.--S Philbrick(Talk) 14:05, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I work for Dimensional Insight and I have some citations for some of the awards mentioned on the Wikipedia page (and some additional awards). Another user had requested third-party citations to improve the content.

Would an editor be willing to review the following information and consider updating the page with the appropriate citations?

BIkhs (talk) 16:36, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:ORGAWARDS. In most cases it is promotional to add awards, unless there are independent sources (independent of the award organizers), such as a profile story in the media that included the award in a manner that suggest it is significant to the company's history.
