There needs to be an article addressing distributors as a portion of the retail system, regardless of what product they're handling. There are articles here for "film distributor" and "music distributor", but nearly every major retail outlet (a grocery store for example) buys its materials from a distributor who buys it from the producer. I wish to see an article addressing how such distributors are able to influence the flow of product in the retail market (for instance, how a self-published author may find it impossible to sell his book through large-name bookstores because they buy only from the distribution houses that they have signed purchasing agreements with).

If the word distributor is used in the meaning of electrical switchboard, is that correct? If it is, or if the term is used in electrical engineering, it should be mentioned here.90.190.225.121 (talk) 04:27, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
