Donetsk National University of Economics and Trade named after Mykhailo Tugan-Baranovsky (DonNUET)

Ukrainian higher educational establishment with 97 years of history which predetermined the development of national economy of Ukraine by its educational and scientific activities, trained more than 150 thousand experts in the field of economics and trade, which was and remains the powerful research and educational center.1

The pioneers of the major innovations in the university’s activities, the main driving force of the development, leaders in science and education were university rectors, including the first rector M.V. Ptukha, then academician K.H. Voblyi, professors P.T. Rudenko, S.A. Minkevych, O. D. Ivanchykhin, O.A. Bairachnyi, F.D. Fesenko, V.M. Filippov, I.V. Soroka.

According to the State Accreditation Committee resolution on July 7, 1998 (Minutes № 15) the university was accredited as a whole as a higher educational establishment of the fourth level. In 2008, in connection with the planned accreditation, the university confirmed this status (certificate series RD-IV № 056307 of 11.11.2009 , Added: Series RD-IV № 0572886 of 15.12.2014).

The university was given the national status by the Decree of the President of Ukraine № 169/2007 of 03.03.2007.

The DonNUET history consists of four main periods of the development:

1920-1934 – Kyiv period

• Ukrainian Cooperative Institute named after Professor M. I. Tugan-Baranovsky (1920-1921); • Faculty of Kyiv Institute of National Economy (1921-1922); • Kyiv Cooperative College (1922-1926); • Kyiv Cooperative Institute named after V. Ya. Chubar (1926-1930); • Kyiv Institute of Consumer Cooperation (1930-1934);

1934-1959 – Kharkiv period

• All-Ukrainian Institute of Consumer Cooperation (1934-1936); • Ukrainian Institute of Soviet Trade (1936-1940); • Kharkiv Institute of Soviet Trade (1940-1959);

1959-2014 – Donetsk period

• The Stalinist Institute of Soviet Trade (1959-1961); • Donetsk Institute of Soviet Trade (1961- 1992); • Donetsk Commercial Institute (1992 - 1997); • Donetsk State Commercial Institute (1997 - 1998); • Donetsk State University of Economics and Trade (1998 - 2000); • Donetsk State University of Economics and Trade named after M. Tugan-Baranovsky (2000 - 2007); • Donetsk National University of Economics and Trade named after M. Tugan-Baranovsky (since 2007).
