How many Dudley Leavitts?[edit]

The original article said that Leavitt was a church patriarch in the 1840s, but the only records I find is for a young man who crossed the plains in his twenties. Father and son? Anyone have additional information? WBardwin 07:37, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am a 4th great grandson of Dudley Leavitt. He had 50 children from his 5 wives. Many of those children were also named Dudley Leavitt. I do not know if any of them were ever officially patriarchs. I do know that Dudley Sr. was not an official church patriarch. (contribution by 24.152.146.72, 14:06, 28 June 2006)

Disambiguation[edit]

The category of Dudley Leavitt needs a disambiguation page. Aside from a Mormon pioneer, the name also belonged to several other men, including Rev. Dudley Leavitt, an early Congregational pastor in Salem, Massachusetts, (for whom Salem's Leavitt Street is named), as well as teacher, farmer and almanac publisher Dudley Leavitt of Meredith, New Hampshire (a native of Exeter). All these mens' names were derived from the common ancestor Massachusetts Bay Colony Governor Thomas Dudley, whose daughter married Rev. Samuel Dudley, and whose daughter Dorothy married Moses Leavitt (son of Deacon John Leavitt of Hingham, Massachusetts) of Exeter, New Hampshire. Sorry, I was incorrect. No need for a disambiguation page. I have created an entry for the earlier Dudley Leavitt. But on the subject of Dudley Leavitt of Bunkerville, I believe that this gentleman's full name was Thomas Dudley Leavitt as per this source [1]. If this is correct, I would like to enter this man's full name here. If anyone has any objections, or believes my information is incorrect, please let me know first.
