Defense Mechanisms

[edit]

Under the defense mechanism section of this page, it says the earless lizard can shoot blood from its eyes. After much searching, I was not able to find anything supporting this claim. The citation talking about this claim (Digimorph, Horned Lizards) links to a website. Upon reading that website, you can see everything is about the horned lizard (which is of a different genus - Phrynosoma. They reference another study (Sherbrooke, W. C., and G. A. Middendorf, III. 2001.) which is specific to the genera Phyronosama. It does not mention the genus Cophosaurus or Holbrookia, the two genera of earless lizards. While all these lizards fall under the same family, Phrynosomatidae, I do not believe there is sufficient evidence to say the earless lizards can squirt blood. 158.68.232.94 (talk) 21:14, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I second this comment. I do not see sufficient evidence that earless lizards shoot blood from their eyes. 158.68.232.138 (talk) 20:25, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
