Identifying office holders distinct from individuals
The table of members identifies the members as the leaders of the respective countries and the persons currently in that role. It had at one stage referred to the individuals names as "incumbent" to identify the membership is not personal to the individual but arises from them holding the role of leader of their country. That comment has been removed from the table but I think something should be done to make sure the reader understands that the 18 named persons only hold membership during the their tenure as national leader, not as a personal appointment. I will make a change but as the reference to incumbent was removed I am seeking comments here first. - Eas21c (talk) 22:17, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Minor note on sources
Link [5] notes that "Credit for advancing the forum during the 2004 ASEAN Plus Three summit has been attributed to both the People's Republic of China [5]..." In fact, link [5] is an article published on 14 October 2003, which attributes no credit for advancing the East Asia Summit. I recommend that whole sentence be deleted. East Timor
I cannot find a source for the statement that East Timor was in Cebu as part of the EAS. They were there for the ASEAN meeting to sign the TAC (on the 13th - two days before the EAS) but did they observe/attend the EAS? Is there a reference to confirm this? - --220.238.167.215 10:36, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
I have now removed those comments as they are unsupported.--220.238.161.174 21:49, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
I note these comments have been put back in and the articles cited in support established Timor Leste is an applicant to join ASEAN but do not establish they were in Cebu for the EAS. Before I revert these changes I would like to discuss. --202.4.78.29 03:54, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
I have again removed the comments about East Timor attending the EAS (as distinct from being in Cebu for other ASEAN related activities). Again if there is a source that East Timor participated in the second EAS the comments can be returned to the article. --58.105.41.190 23:06, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Should each year have its own page?
With the third summit to occur shortly to keep length down I wonder should each summit year gets its own page and then this page have a brief comment and link to the more detailed page? --202.4.78.29 01:15, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
I have attempted this for the First EAS. Yhe text on this page needs work but I do have time now, and i will leave it for comments before doing the Second and Third EAS in the same way/ --Eas21c 02:03, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Region
I have changed back the references to the countries being in East Asia and the region becuase I do not think India, Australia or New Zaland can be said to be in the East Asia region as that is commonly used. - Eas21c (talk) 09:41, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Stop using Burma here!
none of the subject nation use the term burma, stop trying to impose your worldview on everything despite the sources that is recited by the pro-burma editor, use the term Myanmar as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Akinkhoo (talk

"Candidiates"
In line with the tone of the quote from the Chairman's statement 16th ASEAN summit I have altered the decription of potential future members. It does not appear they can be yet described as candidates. Eas21c (talk) 06:17, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Observers
Is there a source to justify the statement that PNG, Timor Leste and Fiji have observer status (as distinct from them wanting that status)? - --Eas21c (talk) 03:26, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
