Roman Vomiting Myth[edit]

This line "after the commonly-supposed (but mistaken) belief in the frequent induction of vomiting at Roman feasts" seems to be off base considering it links to a Wiki page that states, "While Romans on rare occasions did practice vomiting after meals, the conflation of vomitorium with actual vomiting is a recent invention." In other words, it's the use of the vomitorium for vomiting that is the mistaken belief, not that in certain circumstances the Romans vomited intentionally after feasting. So I'm for altering the text. 75.19.34.215 (talk) 02:57, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WTF? This article needs an expert in what? Some guy with a degree in erotic vomiting?!

This article is in desperate need of attention. Adiemus 15:24, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone else think that this page needs to be completely re-written? It almost wholly includes unsubstantiated claims, generalities being discussed as fact, and all with no direct references for some of the most specific claims. I'm referring to the "different levels" of emetophilia, the sections about emetophobics, celebrities, the "bumper crop of vomit scenes", etc. In addition, the article is poorly written.

Reply:

I agree. I have rewritten and actually made it shorter. Some stuff was redundant and the stuff about celebrities was stupid and assumed we think about them in the first place. On the other hand, encyclopedias aren't SUPPOSED to cite all their sources, right? We are sort of supposed to take them on trust. I have removed the first link at the end, alt.fondle.vomit, which is out of date. The third link was to a bona fide heterosexual emetophile site. I've added a further one to a bona fide, text-only, no-images gay emetophile site.

Not controversial[edit]

I removed the controversial tag, as I see nothing controversial about this article, and I see no controversy in the talk page. --Xyzzyplugh 18:17, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what "Jason C. Livingston, Vomiting Gets Me Hot" is. It's not available online or even cited anywhere else online. I'm thinking it's a prank.

That article was in some fetish magazine or something. Mr. Livingston has appeared on various shock-jock radio shows, and (I believe) Jerry Springer, showcasing his desire to have attractive women vomit on him. He also used to pester me (I'm a female emetophile) to get together with him, but I refused; furthermore, he has quoted some of my emetophilic writing without attribution, trying to pass it off as his own.

The newsgroup alt.fondle.vomit still exists, but it is very nearly dormant.

I used to have a website of my own dealing with emetophilia, but my internet provider discovered (after it had been there for several years) that it contained "adult content", and threaten to cancel my account. The site still exists, but all the written material has been removed, and it only contains audio recordings - which, for some reason, my provider doesn't consider offensive. --acelightning 05:00, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, you sure sound like a winner to me.

What happened?[edit]

This article used to have at least some information, but now there's none! That "buildup, spasm, relief" description seemed pretty accurate. Why'd it get scrapped? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Geepaws (talkcontribs) 23:36, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
