A better pic

[edit]

I think we should get a better pick, one that shows Eneru's face as well. New Babylon

How about this one: [[1]]

That one's much better, in my opinion. Lordshmeckie 06:58, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Naruto Part

[edit]

I added the Trivia about the Sharingan from Naruto. I don't know who added the cursed seal part though.

-Uh, don't you think that symbol is from some REAL japanese thing, and not from Naruto? That seems stupid to assume Naruto originated it, and Oda copied it.

It is not FROM Naruto. I agree with the poster above. It is obviously from some Japanese Tradition. I do not, however know. If I find the source(which I am not persuing) I will update.

I didn't say it was from Naruto, I said it was simaler to the sharingan

For the record, the symbol on Enel's drums means "heaven". Sigmasonic X 23:00, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ahhh thanks sigma.

That clears it up. It's the seal of heaven or something in Naruto, and they are in Skypeia in One Piece. makes sense to me!

Yeah. You know how Orochimaru said Sasuke had a Heaven seal. --Elixer202 23:56, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I understand there may be a lot of Naruto fans who want to point out the similairty, but those symbols are part fo Japanese culture, and thus, there is absoltely no need to bring up Naruto simply for using this symbol. There is no connvection to that series, please stop bringing it up. --Lordshmeckie 06:00, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A thought on moving the article

[edit]

Enel "One Piece" - 930,000 Google results
Eneru "One Piece" - 16,700 Google results

So, wanna move it? The Splendiferous Gegiford 00:12, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If it's actually his name, yes. If it's just a fan thing(like Maito Gai instead of Might Guy), no. Nemu 01:31, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I know it was written as "Enel" in one of the video games in Japan. Then again, I think there were some other weird mispellings in one of the Japanese video games, but I don't know if it was the one where his name was written as "Enel". The Splendiferous Gegiford 03:44, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I know of 'Flanky' but nothing of Enel. I had a look at the sites listed on the console page and couldn't find his name written in English.
I'm pretty sure it is "Enel". Fighting for One Piece lists it as Enel, and while Franky's name is mispelled "Flanky" in that game's intro, it is spelled correctly in-game. Basically, since this is the only romanization we have to go on, and that electric company and "En-lil" being possible sources of his name, I'm all for "Enel". Lordshmeckie 06:27, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Holy... Geg and I are on the same side...
Anyway, I vote to change the page to "Enel" and I just like doing these:
Ener "One Piece" 33,800 hits
Plus, it's the name used by Kaizoku-Fansubs, mainly because his name is pronounced "Enel". (Justyn 21:09, 3 October 2006 (UTC))[reply]
But, is his name actally Enel? If it's just fanon, it shouldn't be changed. If it's a true name, we should go right ahead. Nemu 21:14, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone please provide a non-fan based picture of the spelling 'Enel' as proof here. So far everyone has only the word of mouth, no evidence. It would be REALLY helpful here and further back up the argument for 'Enel'. There is evidence for Eneru as we know by now. Angel Emfrbl 21:18, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[2] Okay, look at the top right-hand corner (Justyn 22:09, 3 October 2006 (UTC))[reply]
Is that something we can really trust? I've seen other Japanese games spell names wrong before. I've also seen other official things spell Zoro as Zolo. Nemu 22:37, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What's wrong with trusting it? It's the only official romanisation, and it's the most popular by far. And how many things outside of VIZ or 4Kids spell Zoro "Zolo"? (Justyn 22:46, 3 October 2006 (UTC))[reply]
It was some Japanese toy add that spelled it as Zolo. I just don't think a game should be our first and only source as it's not first party, so it may be wrong. Nemu 22:49, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey people, can we avoid another Zoro/Zolo argument please? Yes games should not be trusted (Flanky for example was used for a intro to a game instead of 'Franky') plus they are not even canon. Angel Emfrbl 15:12, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I had always assumed that Wikipedia used "Eneru" because it was the most direct romanisation of the Katakana of his name. And alot of the information that we have on the characters in the Skypia/Jaya arc is from the American only video game One Piece Grand Adventure, so realy, they cannot be trusted either. (Justyn 16:55, 4 October 2006 (UTC))[reply]
Eneru was used before the game came out. Most info here came before the American only game. As I said, someone show me a picture of 'Enel' and I'll accept that as a possible spelling. Angel Emfrbl 22:06, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What I ment was most of the dub information was what we got from the game. (Justyn 23:39, 4 October 2006 (UTC))[reply]
Saying the games can't be trusted isn't entirely true. The video games have, by and large, been pretty accurate with romanizations. Also, the character was never, to my knowledge, romanized as "Eneru" in any Japanese media, and Fighting for One Piece got everyone else's name right in-game (it did have Franky's name misspelled in the intro, but again, his name was spelled correctly during gameplay). Also, the way his name is pronounced in the anime furthers the argument for "Enel". Lordshmeckie 22:21, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just adding that One Piece Grand Battle! Rush also romanizes his name as "Enel". SO that's a second source. 71.246.85.87 19:30, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmation Please

[edit]

Oda confirmed that if Eneru were actually a wanted pirate, he would have a bounty of no less than 500,000,000 Belli

I this true? SBS, Volume+ Chapter... Data book. Whatever. I'd like to put a 'reference' on it. Angel Emfrbl 20:14, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that factoid is true. See [3]. 68.189.82.81 23:22, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Where does the information for Lucci narrowly beating Eneru come from?

Eminem Comment

[edit]

A comment was made long ago on Enel's appearence being based on Eminem, and it has appeared again. Where is the source for this comment? Before someone reverts it back, I think proof should be neccessary as it reads like vandalism.

It comes from fans noticing they look alike... I think the bit about Oda liking his music is reguarded as true but I don't know where it came from. Angel Emfrbl 09:09, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Regardless of where the source comes from, a simple mention of the simmilarities between Eneru and Eminem should exist in the article as they can be clearly be seen. Similar types of comments like this can be found in other One Piece pages as well as other Wikipedia pages. In fact, there's at least one section dedicated to such comments on Franky's page. Extremely clear similarities between two subjects of different natures and origins should exist on a page as it may help a reader grasp of what is being discussed about especially if he knows more of the later subject than the one being discussed. If it is looks like too much like vandalism, rewrite the comment in a way so that it doesn't.
Franky's one actually shouldn't be there... Its just there to see if Oda confirms any of it. And I forgot to remove it when I sorted out that page a while back. I had to lump all that speculation somewhere for later deletation. Angel Emfrbl 20:29, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's not the biggest deal or anything, but the comment just seems like something that would be found on a fan based message board, not an encyclopedia (as an encyclopedia should have facts, not unsourced opinions). If a reader should come across this article, it's up to him or her to make that judgment call, not the encyclopedia. Any other such comments found around the One Piece article (or really any article) I would consider to be deleted as well.
It could be listed under "Allusions" on the main OP article.
No it can't because its not obivous enough to be legit. With Jango + M.Jackson its obivous... Enel its not. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 00:25, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Enel pronunciation

[edit]

How is Enel pronounced? Is it like anal? - Peregrinefisher 06:25, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but more like Eh-Nehl. -Anonymous Dude-

P.S. In what language is the name of that Gloam Paddling thing?

EneruEnel (One Piece) — Eneru is just a phonetic "guess" at the name, before it was chosen by 4Kids. Enel is the romanization used in Japanese merchandise (primarily the video games; Grand Battle! Rush and Fighting For One Piece, two seperate games from seperate companies, both romanize his name as Enel. Lordshmeckie 00:37, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Eneru's Voice Actor

[edit]

Who's going to do Eneru now that FUNimation will be taking over One Piece? The only records of 4Kids actor for Eneru is probably on the One Piece: Grand Adventure game for the Gamecube. If you ask me, I have NO IDEA why in the world 4Kids would give One Piece control to FUNimantion if they're just going to re-cast the entire staff!

You don't know...? -_-'
Okay not trying to start a big discussion on this. But here is the expo - 4Kids white flagged the series leaving it up in the air for anyone to take. Toei animation, wanting to continue selling OP to an Amercian audience and Cartoon Network (wanting to continue the showing series) began looking for new dubbers. FUNimation, origanally in the first bidding wars back in... Forget when... Who fought and thought they had won the series rights previously (until 4Kids step in and beat them off with a bigger bid) grabbed the chance at the series again and now they have the rights.
Don't believe the Viz stuff about 2009 being the end of 4Kids copyright or Viz copyright on first eps... Or whatever they say is... Where that comes from I don't know. I'm heard this before, but no one has ever put the proof in front of me whenever I've ask. I'm not saying its wrong, I'm saying no one is supplying the evidence. Look on the English adaption page, you'll see the links to what we DO know everywhere. Also look up "FUNimation One Piece" on Youtube. There is a panel session at one of the anime Expos there with various peeps there (and two of the Japanese VAs, I believe one is Usopp's...) with Funimation main peeps there too. Enel's laugh

[edit]

"Many of One Piece's characters were given distinct laughs. Enel follows this tradition with a stressed "ya" at the beginning of his laugh (i.e. "Yaaa ha ha ha ha ha!"). This carries over to the 4Kids dub."

It says that but I thought that A:Funimation is now doing the dub and B:It is not to that point in the anime yet? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.53.86.200 (talk) 01:56, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Troy Baker is NOT the FUNimation Voice

[edit]

I asked McFarland at Oni-con In Texas This Weekend, he said Enel does indeed have a Voice Actor, but his name has Not Been revealed yet. However, I asked him if it was Troy Baker, and he said with the UTMOST Certainty that it was DEFINATELY NOT Troy Baker. I'm going to Change it to "Cast, but Presently unknown" as I have SEVERAL times in the past, Whoever Keeps changing it back to "Troy Baker" PLEASE STOP!! King Ener?

[edit]

Where does the information come from regarding Ener being called 'King' in the Funimation TV dub? Ark 12:16, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The recent episode stated he was. Brian 12:25, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Chapters?

[edit]

Is this really necessary? If so, could we chop it down a bit. The whole thing is just a summary of his cover page story since the Skypia arc. At the most it should only take up a few lines. Ditch88 (talk) 08:23, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This page should have been reverted long ago. Bye bye page! Angel Emfrbl (talk) 08:33, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
