prepaid energy meter

Several groups had developed a laboratory prototype of Single-phase Prepaid Energy meter using a smart card based scheme. The energy measurement unit is based on a commercially available ASIC. A microcontroller based control section controls and co-ordinates all the activities viz. reading the credit units from the card through the card reading mechanism, computing and updating the net credit, displaying the net credit on the LCD display, initiating various alarms and indications, and load disconnection / connection.

It has been suggested that this article or section be merged with Electricity meter. (Discuss)[edit]

Yes, merge Pol098 04:14, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, merge. "Electricity meter" more accurately describes what this is. "Energy meter" is ambiguous and therefore should be folded into Electricity meter. Thrasher141 21:00, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Merge. Same reasons as above. I already merged the text earlier. I am inserting the redirect now. Ray Van De Walker 16:25, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
