A Few Page Recommendations

Hello, I am also working on a class assignment and would wish to add a few recommendations to this page. I agree with the previous users that the material presented for the definition feels subjective and biased. Another note would be that the overall tone appears to read more like a persuasive tone than informative. I also noticed that the "Production" section seems to be slightly underrepresented and more information could be added to this area.

A question that could possibly be added to the "Labour Concern" section would be what legislative actions have been taken to prevent the nature of overworking those who produce fast fashion?

Another question is in regards to overconsumption of fast fashion, were there or are there any proposals or policies in progress to prevent overconsumption?

Question: Are there viewpoints that are overrepresented, or underrepresented?

The example of the fast fashion company, "Zara", is utilized multiple times throughout the article. The company is referenced in more than one section. I feel as though the article needs more diverse examples and less focus on one brand, as the fast fashion industry spans over a multitude of different brands. Article Evaluation

Question: Is any information out of date? Is anything missing that could be added?

The design lawsuits and legislation section seems to be only mentioning bills prior to 2007. There have been numerous acts and laws introduced since 2007 attempting to regulate the fashion industry both in terms of design aspects, and environmental impact.Kkellywhite (talk) 05:39, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

Review of the Article

Throughout the article’s main points section, each section consisted of information relevant to fast fashion. However, I believe that the slow fashion counter information should be moved to the sustainability section. It is well written with a lot of reliable sources, but this information would flow better into the sustainability section as it discusses solutions that current designers are doing to counter fast fashion rather than discussing the concept of fast fashion. All information and sources of this article are up to date as the research is within the last 10 years. There is some biased leaning towards the negativity of fast fashion, which is understandable as it greatly impacts the environment and laborer's health. However, one information that could be added into this article for a more neutral tone is how fast fashion interlinks with the economy, especially with small stores. For instance, the gain and loss of fast fashion countries that benefits from it like the U.S versus developing countries in which fast fashion rely on their workers to produce the products.

Overall, it is a well organized article with no grammatical error that could developed with more added information. __Gigiberry (talk) 23:10, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

Labor concerns section

The labor concerns section seems to relate to the garment industry in general. Is there a reason it's here on Fast fashion and not in, say, Clothing industry? -Amcbride (talk) 21:27, 8 November 2021 (UTC)

LEAD: The lead/introduction section is good in that it is short, sweet, and to the point, but I think it would be worth mentioning some more brands that participate in fast fashion so that readers are able to understand what it really is early on. A bit ambiguous if you ask me.

TONE/BALANCE: I think generally speaking the article definitely has a neutral tone in the way it talks about the topic, but I think the heavy focus on the environmental impacts of fast fashion over all the other components of it is an implicit bias in its own way. I don’t think the article needs to be heavily restructured by any means, but it is definitely apparent.

CONTENT/ORGANIZATION: Another really strong part of the article. Only thing is as I mentioned above, the environmental effects are not necessarily focused in just the specific section for it, so it comes across as a potential bias.

SOURCES: This is definitely one place that the article really goes above and beyond. Due to the nature that it is a higher traffic article, the sourcing is really incredible. Unlike some of the other articles I was examining, after sifting through some of the sources it really is apparent the lack of bias in the article through and through.

MEDIA: For how long the article is, I think having only three pieces of media is a little ludicrous. I think one obvious photo that could be incorporated is one from a recent fashion week, hopefully one that reflects the impacts of the movement.

Essay-like

This article is not unbiased, the article needs to be about fast fashion, not fast fashion's impact on the environment. Information about the environmental impact needs to remain in the section about environmental impact, and the definition certainly shouldn't be stated to be one stated by as biased of a source as the one cited. --S7evyn (talk) 08:02 21 February 2020 (UTC)

Article Evaluation

The article appears to be unbiased in presenting facts. However, the mention of the "boho-chic" era of style seems to be distracting. I say this because it is redundant and not as accurate when compared with the paragraph directly following in regard to the "quick response" manufacturing method developed in the '80s. Furthermore, it seems that the "quick response" method was more instrumental in the development of this production method, now termed 'fast fashion,' than was the "boho-chic" style of dressing; because of these repeated points, there is too much emphasis on when the method emerged when in-fact, rapid clothing production has always been present. --Paulruback (talk) 06:11, 5 February 2020 (UTC)

Article Evaluation

Question: Is the article neutral? Are there any claims, or frames, that appear heavily biased toward a particular position?

Fast fashion is written in an organized, unbiased manner. For example, under its "Strategy" heading, there are also bold subheadings that succinctly organize the different strategies employed by fast-fashion retailers to appeal to their audiences. The article simply defines terms from a neutral standpoint and makes sure to cite all of them. There is no diction whatsoever that implies some bias or affiliation with a company to promote its products.Byulnims (talk) 21:26, 4 February 2020 (UTC)

A few page updates

Hello, I am working on a school assignment and I wish to add a few things to this page. I would like to expand on the introductory section by adding more fast fashion brands. I would also like to add more information about fast fashion sweatshops, the global impact of fast fashion and slow fashion in comparison. I think it would also be informative to add to the documentaries list. Allanahmeg (talk) 22:20, 2 October 2019 (UTC)allanahmeg
