Talk:Fat soluble vitamins
Where is the page on water soluble vitamins?
Merging
[edit]This is just one paragraph of information. This can simply be merged into the main page, vitamins. However, if there is a great deal of more information, then I suggest we expand on it. -Omghgomg 07:33, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- I support this. I can't think of much to say about fat-soluble vitamins; besides, the main vitamin article could stand to be a tad more in-depth. I can see this fitting into the "In humans" section. --Paul Kilgo (OEP) 13:32, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
i wanted to know the fat soluble vitamins and its a quick and clear way to find out. If it goes in as part of the main vitamins stuff, it mustnt be swallowed up and hidden - so a clear, subheaded paragraph. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.132.144.133 (talk) 21:57, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
For Clarity Keep it apart
[edit]I would not suggest merging the info. If I want to know more about the other vitamins I will go to that page. This page could stand more data to fill it out. I'm not the one to do it, but I am glad I did not have to sort through a lot of detail on all vitamins to find it. Specialized info is a great help in research...it saves time! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.66.203.120 (talk) 19:34, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
How much is too much?
[edit]The following passage is ambiguous:
- If the diet contains too much vitamin A or D, however, the surplus will accumulate in the liver and may be harmful. Such excessive intakes are less likely to result from over-eating than through over-enthusiastic use of vitamin pills or dietary supplements.
Without giving more precise information, this amounts to a condemnation of supplements with no scientific basis. Since there is a huge body of evidence also pointing to the benefits of vitamins, I feel this is unwarranted, at least in a stub about a technical point. To resolve this without removing the above quote, I think the following should be included: 1) acute toxic doses of vitamins A, D; 2) chronic toxic doses and length of time necessary for toxic effect. To my understanding these quantities are so large as to be unlikely to pose any threat (e.g. downing three bottles of vitamin A pills in one day, etc.). If more convenient we can also just remove the quoted material. Neoprote (talk) 10:28, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
