Section "Prominent Members - Henry Havelock Ellis" is complete garbage and needs to be rewritten from scratch. It's not even grammatical.212.159.59.5 (talk) 12:33, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Founding of the Fellowship[edit]

Whilst researching the family history of a Paul Bruhl, I have been searching books for references to his father-in-law, Rowland Metzner Estcourt (PhD University of California). Rowland is the author of The Conflict of Tax Laws (between 1918 and 1966 at least); and is mentioned in a few books about Alfred Russell Wallace. I have also found two snippets of a letter that dispute the claim that it was Davidson alone who started this Fellowship.

Snip1 - ".. [].. I wish to point out that far from the Garden City being an impracticable system, the third garden city in England has recently been inaugurated, the others having filled up. My personal interest in the matter is peculiar because I can claim to be the originator of the idea. (Of course, I only speak in modern terms. Probably Plato anticipated me.) In 1883 Thomas Davidson, Percival Chubb and myself founded the Fellowship of the New Life."

Snip2 - "..schools. The economic scheme attracted Ebenezer Howard who derived from it his Garden City. You will thus see that while I cannot claim to be the father of the Garden City I may fairly claim to be its grandfather and thus still interested in its outcome. The "Lineal" or "Vertebrate" city will consequently by my grandchild by marriage! They are all worthy offspring. [Alameda, California - Dec 8, 1929] - Roland Estcourt (??. PhD ??)" (unreadable letters after name).
