Bullfighting?[edit]
Is this the same "Fuente del Berro" listed by Las Ventas as the former chief bullfighting arena in Madrid? — LlywelynII 07:09, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- @LlywelynII: This is an article about an administrative neighborhood. The Fuente del Berro mentioned listed in Las Ventas is presumably a mention to the bullfighting venue (Plaza de toros de la Fuente del Berro) built on the plot now featuring the Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid, which, by the way, is close, but not within, the bounds of this administrative neighborhood.--Asqueladd (talk) 11:23, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- Do they share the same name because it was formerly considered the same neighborhood? If so, it'd still be appropriate for it to be in a history section as the article is expanded. Naturally a full treatment of the venue would need a separate article but it would still be better to have somewhere to show its location and full name. Plus for at least a few people like myself, the name needs some minor dabbing.
- Also, since you're here, is another article right that its name means "Source of the Watercress"? Any particular reason for it? — LlywelynII 11:34, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

No. They are both named after the Quinta de la Fuente del Berro) (which happened to be in the neighborhood of Las Ventas (now part of Ciudad Lineal) prior to being transferred to the neighborhood, now district, of Salamanca). Regarding the ultimate origin of the placename, it actually refers to a water spring and Qanat in the vicinity of the Abroñigal creek (now the eastern stretch of the M-30): the Fuente del Berro (fuente y viaje de agua). I personally don't think such mention is warranted in this article. The venue should clearly have its standalone article as an early instance of neomudejar architecture. Meanwhile, a mention in the WiZink Center article (or the Goya neighborhood article) could be entertained, but not here.--Asqueladd (talk) 11:42, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
