Talk:Gauss gun
Article may be incorrect or worded incredibly strangly
[edit]Many parts of this article are worded strangely or are flat out wrong.
"Because the spacer kept it far away from the magnet, the projectile loses less energy escaping from the magnet's influence than the trigger ball gave it, so it leaves the stack with a higher velocity than the trigger ball entered with."
Either this means that energy was created out of nowhere, or it is supposed to mean that the escaping ball has more energy than was required to push the trigger ball into the system. The quoted line implies that the system creates more energy than was entered, which is obviously false.
"Once the ball is launched, the trigger ball must be pried off the back of the magnet before it can be used again. This is where the energy to shoot the gun ultimately comes from."
What does this even mean? The energy of the system comes from prying the ball off? Technically, it sorta does, but not directly or necessarily. 174.23.172.147 (talk) 01:35, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
