Chart showing the development of the Gearing class

The "Chart showing the development of the Gearing class" is helpful but contains an error. The number of vessels completed and commissioned (i.e. the shown number in the top-center and bottom boxes in the chart) should read 98 instead of 105. Longevity - last retired.

OK - if you look 14 were still in service in Jan-1981, plus another 13 in service as of Jan-1979, most of those were Naval Reserve Ships - and had their "life" mandated by congress at that time. AS stated "They were replaced as ASW ships by the Spruance-class destroyers, which were commissioned 1975–1983" 01:25, 29 December 2023 (UTC). Wfoj3 (talk) 01:25, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Info Box - 1 ship lost
