Warning About this Page

I created this page to offload a vast and troubling portion of content from the Generation Y page so that it can be thoroughly revised seperately from the recently revised Generation Y page. This article was orginally several sections in the Generation Y page concerning the music, movies, books, television programming, and Internet media consumption of Generation Y. The vast problems concerning these sections involve unencylopedic language, the repeated use of non-neutral opinion, hypothesizing, theorizing, conjuecture, and original reasearch. Moreover, these sections did not cite sources and may be filled with factual inaccuracies. They appear to have been written to express very specific points of view about what genres of culture ought to be considered "Generation Y" and also with undocumented claims about what is the most popular genre among Generation Y.

The content of this page may not have a place on wikipedia, unless a group of wikipedians undertakes the daunting task or refining it so that the various warning labels at the head of the article can be removed.

Unnecessary

I don't see the purpose for this page, all that is required is perhaps a paragraph on the Gen Y page or a smaller version of everything explained here summed up neatly. Otherwise we might as well start putting up Gen X, Baby Boomer, MTV Gen, Generation Jones Culture Pages - what makes Y so important as to have its very own page dedicated to pop culture and youth culture which have their own pages? Funny how Gen Y has a greater presence here, might have something to do with us being the first to have had the internet as a major factor in our lives.

Classic Rock

In the music section, should there be a mention of the popularity of classic rock music, much of which was released before they were even born? Is this unique to generation Yers? There have been articals in magazines, such as Rolling Stone, about this phenomenon.

Should be merged with original Generation Y article

This article is too long, messy and not researched or cited. Seperating the original Generation Y article into 2 separate articles was not a good idea. I'm asking someone to merge the article with the original Generation Y article and then shorten and clean up the information. Rumble 74 24 June 2007.
