"gosport tube" seems to have an incorrect link. I can find on "gosport tube" page. I can find a reference to "gosport tube" in the "speaking tube" article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speaking_tube, and the phrase is not linked in that article. Danchall (talk) 04:54, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The linked reference in the Speaking tube article (http://www.oxforddnb.com/view/article/72242) requires a subscription, for example a public library membership card. The relevant section says:

"An instructor must be able to talk to his pupil while in the air, despite engine noise ... Smith-Barry therefore devised ‘the Gosport tube’: at one end it had two earpieces for the pupil and at the other a mouthpiece for the instructor.
