Two aspects of motor graders that may be addressed on this page: 1) history and evolution: grader history is fairly well documented, beginning with horse-drawn equipment that first appeared in the 1870s 2) compact graders: a class of motor graders significantly smaller than the size ranges indicated in the text - used for specialty work in confined work spaces, often as multi-purpose tool carrier with a variety of attachments and often using hydrostatic drives vs geared drive trains Also note that motor graders are used extensively for snow removal, especially in northern rural areas.
