Great South Road pre-1861

To my knowledge, and based on a source I am using currently Great South Road was not constructed until Sir George Grey ordered the construction. Existing roads being incorporated into it may be possible but the name Great South Road was not used until George Grey ordered construction of a road from Auckland to the Waikato.
