Revision

[edit]

Roadstar did spilt up, Heaven's Basement feature only 3 members of Roadstar. There was a 1 year gap inbetween Roadstar and Heaven's Basement.

Heaven's Basement no longer play any material from Roadstar, its a totally new band. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CR83 (talkcontribs) 14:01, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Heaven's Basement page has been edited with correct information about 'Heaven's Basement'. Hurricane Party / Roadstar should have its own page with a link to Heaven's Basement —Preceding unsigned comment added by CR83 (talkcontribs) 14:51, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My views on the revision battle going on here.

There is a serious factual misrepresentation in the page before the CR83’s changes as, whereas Hurricane Party/Roadstar were the same band that changed its name, Heaven’s Basement is an entirely different entity. It is wrong to imply that it ever operated “as Hurricane Party” and “as Roadstar”. This is an important legal distinction. (for example Heaven’s Basement will have no right to perform Hurricane Party/Roadstar’s music, or pay their bills etc.).

Secondly there is an important presentational issue. The reader looking for Heaven’s Basement is presented with a page that is 2/3rds about a different band that is given sequential prominence over Heaven’s Basement.

For these reasons I cannot agree with Newsteadgirl’s repeated reversion of other contributors edits. She should not persist without debate on here to attempt to get consensus.

I partially agree with Newsteadgirl’s comment that just deleting the sections referring to Hurricane Party/Roadstar removes the history. However it is only part of the history, it is one band that 3 current members of Heaven’s Basement have played in. There will be other bands that these 3 played in and other bands that the rest of Heaven’s Basement played in.

I see two ways forward, either create a Hurricane Party/Roadstar article that links to this or create a subsidiary section towards the bottom of the article that discusses the history of the band members (but it must not be represented as a history of Heaven’s Basement itself). Of course there could be a third option that is a combination of both.

Clearly CR83 favours the first of these but there is no Hurricane Party/Roadstar article and I wonder if they were significant enough to warrant one.Rolo Tamasi (talk) 17:56, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I completely understand. I apologise for the inconviences!! Thanks Rolo Tamasi for creating a new page for Roadstar. Newsteadgirl (talk) 21:02, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

EP, have it's own page?

[edit]

Should the EP have it's on own page? Newsteadgirl (talk) 11:47, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It looks as though that would fit better with the commonly used structure on here. I have a picture of the cover if you want to set the page up. Rolo Tamasi (talk) 12:26, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

I was surprised to see question if HB meet the notability guideline for music. This is big mistake. I have been visiting England for 2 weeks. In that time I have seen them in last months Classic Rock Magazine and also in this months; in last weeks Kerrang Magazine and this weeks; in Rock Sounds magazine that has just come out and in The Sun Newspaper on 1st February. In addition Ive heard them on Radio 1 and Kerrang Radio and they are frequently on Sky TV (Scuzz) and I heard a 20 minute interview on Xfm radio. All of these are highly respected national publications (I think, but XFM might just be London)

I must stress that these are what I have seen and heard in only 2 weeks in England, people at the gig I got to told me of many other newspapers, radios and TV and a simple google search shows very many online magazine articles.

All of these are "substantial", "non-trivial", "independent", and "reliable" publications. Very clear that my experience alone shows the criteria has been substantially succeeded just in these 2 weeks and the question about notability is a mistake that could easily be checked.

The same editor questions the neutrality of the article but the article reads very neutral to me, I can not work out what part of it caused him concern. If that editor would like to do the good job and explain his concerns here we could understand and correct if necessary but a general statement, with no explanation or evidence can not be addressed.

If he thinks the band are using Wiki for personal promotion they are not doing it very well as they have not even updated it to present their new album which is currently #9 in the BBC Album Chart. I think this is all a mistake.

I would add the Album myself but I'm new here and dont want to do it in a wrong way that will bring more criticizes. Maybe someone else will. I have put a sentence in the article.

I have removed those tags until anyone who has concerns tells what they are in here.

Agreed Yoda, good move. The band are not maintaining this page - look at the photo its very old and the line-up has changed substantially - they haven't been a 5 piece for ages. Let's find a better picture from the last couple of years. Rolo Tamasi (talk) 01:05, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
