It would probably help people if "cleaves the DNA palindromic sequence AAGCTT" to indicate what's really meant by "palindromic". Terrycojones (talk) 07:19, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

History

I believe this was the first restriction enzyme that was synthesized or produced, from all restriction enzymes. I am not 100% sure though. Either way, I think it would be useful if the article mentions WHEN it was discovered and WHEN it was first produced; I am quite certain it must be among the first restriction enzymes produced, perhaps even the first one. Either way it should be mentioned IMO. 2A02:8388:1602:6D80:C080:419D:679D:C9F8 (talk) 02:18, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hind III

I think it is important and proper to give a reference citation to the discovery of the target sequence AAGCTT. This was one of the earliest type II restriction enzymes for which the target sequence was determined. That reference is RW Old, K. Murray and G. Roizes J Mol Biol 92(1975) 331-339. 2A00:23C7:639F:5101:A4AC:51:1675:773C (talk) 16:14, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
